ASTANA, 19th March, 2017 (WAM) -- The fourth session of the UAE-Kazakh Inter-Governmental Commission convened on Sunday in the Kazakh capital, Astana.

The UAE delegation is led by Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation for Political Affairs, while the Kazakh side was led by Akylbek Kamaldinov, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Dr. Ahmed Al Matrooshi, Head of the West Asia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation.

The meeting addressed several issues of mutual concern and discussed ways of promoting co-operation and bilateral ties to achieve mutual interests. The participants exchanged views on several international and regional issues.

Al Jarman praised UAE-Kazakh relations, while stressing the UAE s desire to promote and develop these relations, in compliance with the leaders in both countries.

He referred to the recent visit of Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, to the UAE, and his meeting with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. Al Jarman noted that they attended the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding between both countries.

He also praised the Kazakh government s decision to exempt UAE citizens from entry visa requirements to Kazakhstan.

The UAE official further spoke highly of the international initiatives of Kazakhstan as a non-permanent member of the Security Council from 2017 to 2018, and its efficient role at the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, noting that Kazakhstan is a proven mediator in the resolution of regional and world conflicts, as well as its initiative to establish the Islamic Organisation for Food Security.

Kamaldinov stressed the importance of current co-operation and the exchange of experiences between Astana Expo and Expo 2020 Dubai.

He also highlighted the UAE s role in global humanitarian activities and its efficient contribution to reducing unfolding humanitarian crises. He expressed the desire of Kazakhstan to build a permanent partnership with the UAE to enlarge the scope of co-operation between both countries in all fields.

Al Jarman thanked the Kazakh government for allocating the largest pavilion in Astana Expo 2017 to the UAE, at 1000 square metres, while praising the current partnership between Astana Expo 2017 and the Dubai 2020 Expo 2020.

Both parties stressed the importance of benefiting from the competitiveness and growth of both economies to expand the scope of mutual co-operation in all areas.
