Under patronage of Lebanese Minister of Women's Affairs Jean Oghassabian

Beirut -- Under the Patronage of Lebanese Minister of Women’s Affairs, Jean Oghassabian, UNIC Beirut and SMART Center are organizing a conference on “Women in the Public Sector: Towards gender-sensitive public policies” on Tuesday 23 May, at the UN House, Riad El Solh Square.

The event opens at 10:00 AM with speeches by Minister Oghassabian, Representative of SMART Center Randa Yassir, and Director of UNIC Beirut Margo El-Helou.

The conference aims to highlight the work of women in public affairs and discuss ways to lead policy making in Lebanon for better gender mainstreaming on various levels. More than 40 people will be attending, including former Ministers, Members of Parliament, lawyers, academics, experts in the field and media representatives.

The conference includes two sessions on "Laws and their impact on women's work" and "Women in the Public Sector" respectively. The event concludes with the announcement of recommendations on gender mainstreaming in the Lebanese public sector.
