Muscat: The Salalah Free Zone (SFZ) has signed three agreements worth US $ 80 million to establish three new factories at the zone, one of which will specialise in manufacturing solar panels.

According to the SFZ, the three plants together will provide more than 250 direct jobs.

Ali Tabouk, the SFZ's Chief Executive Officer said, "We've secured investments from three foreign companies, one of them from the USA which specialises in manufacturing solar panels, while the other two will manufacture Gypsum products. The factories will develop international brands."

Tabouk added: "We also set up the Mazaya Logistics Station for import and export trade with a storage area of 34,000 sq.m, built with high international standards and we are working to launch a new package for Foreign Direct Investment, which will be announced soon."

"We've launched the Business support unit that includes Senior Executives and Consultants. The unit will provide technical, administrative and financial support to overcome the obstacles and realize the benefits of foreign investments to the national economy."
