Public Authority for Housing Welfare to acquire tire site soon: EPA

KUWAIT CITY: Director General of the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ahmad toured the used tire site in Arhiya area in South Saad Al-Abdullah area to check on the situation and deal with it according to a specific mechanism after receiving a new allocated land in Salmi area, reports Al- Qabas daily.

In his Instagram account, he said, “Work has begun and is underway to hand over the land to the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) within a year or less.”

He went on to say, “After obtaining an alternative land, work has begun to deal with the tires that have been piling up for the last 30 years, indicating that several initiatives have been received to deal with these tires, either by taking them abroad or recycling them”.

Sheikh Abdullah revealed that there is a specific committee that will study the initiatives presented to deal with the piled-up tires, and work on establishing other factories to ensure a safe future for the future generations, such as the existing factory for recycling.

He said, “The obstacles on South Saad Al-Abdullah housing project are being watered down. We are doing whatever is necessary to obtain approvals from the regulatory authorities to expedite dealing with these tires.”

In addition, Sheikh Abdullah showed a video clip of mountains of tires that were cut in preparation for their transportation and handling in a proper manner.
