KUWAIT CITY: Informed sources at the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART) announced the authority is currently preparing to open bridges IC1, IC2, within the next few days which are part of a contract for design, construction and maintenance of intersections of bridges and detours on the Nuwaiseeb Road, which is being implemented by PART at a total cost of 169,500 million dinars.

PART sources explained the planned opening comes within the framework of the policy of handing over and partial opening of road projects as part of developing the road system and achieving safety and security on highways without waiting for the complete completion of the project due to the nature of road projects that allow this.

The sources explained that the opening of the two bridges planned as part of a project aimed at developing the movement of southern border roads and securing bypass traffic with flyovers and highway specifications and consist of 37 km with 6 lanes and intersections and an overpass bridge with two lanes in addition to all bridges along the route.

The main and slopes include an additional lane in each direction, allowing the road to be developed in future, as well as 4 pedestrian bridges, diversions and protection services, including rainwater drainage
