Kuwait has pre-qualified six global firms to bid for projects to be executed at its Al-Ahmadi oil refinery, a local newspaper reported on Monday.

Bidding will close on Sept 24 for the contract which involves projects to be undertaken by the state-owned Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), the Arabic language daily Al-Anba said, citing KNPC sources.

The six companies include Parsons, Fluor and KBR of the US as well as Amec Fosters Wheeler of the UK, Japan's Toyo Company, and France's Technip.

"KNPC will hold an online meeting with representatives of the pre-qualified firms to discuss their bids for the projects," the paper said, adding that projects at Al-Ahmadi comprise the 5th gasline, the clean fuel project, and construction of new facilities.
