Gary Notman, managing director of Pressure Test Solutions (PTS), and Steve Ord have created PTS Services, a new entity that will focus on specialised services to include electrical and hydraulic systems design and manufacture.

The new managing director of PTS Services, Steve Ord, has recently returned to Aberdeen after having worked in the Middle East and South Africa as regional director for EnerMech. He has over 25 years’ experience of the oil and gas sector and is himself a qualified and experienced hydraulics engineer, having designed and manufactured specialised units which are unique to the subsea market.

Mr Ord will head up the day to day running of the new business, initially focused on electrical and hydraulic services as well as instrument pipework installation and testing. Gary Notman will remain as managing director of Pressure Test Solutions.

PTS Services currently has six employees, working out of a facility in Bridge of Don, however the owners expect that figure to triple within 18 months, with a first-year sales forecast of £1million. Contracts are expected in the UK and Africa over the next few months.

Gary Notman bought Pressure Test Solutions in 2014, specialising in rental, sales and calibration of equipment from its base in Denmore Industrial Estate in Bridge of Don. Pressure Test Solutions supplies pressure test equipment and instrumentation, hazardous area equipment, flushing units, ATEX radios, and in late 2017 it invested in a hydraulic and pneumatic products division.

In January 2018, PTS secured its position in the hydraulics market by becoming exclusive distributor for Italian manufacturer MCS Hydraulics, covering Scotland for all its hydraulic and pneumatic products, which involves PTS holding an extensive stock holding in Aberdeen ready to be despatched.

PTS Services will work in tandem with Pressure Test Solutions, bolstering the existing business and bringing in new manufacturing and electrical contacts.

Steve Ord said: “PTS is a long-established business and I have known Gary for over 15 years, so together we can see that there is huge opportunity to provide high quality, bespoke products and services. I believe the market is ready for a new engineering and services company that thinks differently and is willing to think outside the box to deliver turn-key solutions that will support the ever-changing requirements of our clients.”

Gary Notman added: “PTS Services offers a huge opportunity to the marketplace as it can offer bespoke high-quality equipment. With manufacturing facilities here in Aberdeen, we can turn around a range of equipment to specific requirements with impressive lead times. Pressure Test Solutions and PTS Services will work very closely as the units manufactured by PTS Services will have component parts supplied from Pressure Test Solutions. Our customers will benefit from our joint experience and skills, enabling us to offer competitive prices and fast delivery.”
