Amman: According to the latest statistics released by Airport International Group, 1,924,417 passengers (PAX) traveled through Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) during Q1 2019 - marking a 6.1% growth in year-to-date (YTD) PAX figures compared to the same period in 2018. YTD aircraft movements (ACM) totaled at 17,746, registering a notable 6.9% surge, while YTD cargo dropped by 8.4% to stand at 22,608 tons.

Throughout March 2019, QAIA served 676,447 PAX and recorded 6,162 ACM, indicating a rise of 4.6% and 5.3% - respectively. Meanwhile, QAIA handled 8,442 tons of cargo, amounting to a 7.5% decrease compared to the same month a year ago.

“2019 is off to a great start with passenger numbers showing a steady increase, driven largely by travels to/from QAIA to Erbil, Doha, Cairo, Istanbul and Antalya as the top five destinations during the first quarter. This achievement was made possible thanks to the hard work, dedication and commitment of our team and stakeholders, and we look forward to seeing these efforts come to fruition for the remainder of the year,” commented Kjeld Binger, Airport International Group CEO.
