Dubai: Dubai International Airport has urged passengers flying between December 15 and 23 to reach the airport with plenty of time to spare as more than eight million passengers are expected to pass through the facility this month.

“December is one of the busiest months of our year; on some days, there will be more than 250,000 passengers travelling through the three terminals. This means we have two priorities — to manage the operational flow of these hundreds of thousands of passengers, and that they all have an enjoyable and memorable experience at DXB,” said Anita Mehra, senior vice-president of Communication and Reputation at Dubai Airports, in a statement.

Staff levels will be augmented during peak periods and airport operational teams will use the latest sensor technology to constantly monitor passenger flows, allowing staff to be deployed quickly to avoid delays and long queues.

There are additional smart travel tips passengers can follow to make their journey even easier.

Online check-in, or using the self-service check-in kiosks and making use of the bag drop counters makes the first step a lot quicker and encouraged for those savvy travellers who pack light. UAE nationals and residents can also use the smart gates, enabling them to avoid queuing at passport control and travel through quickly and efficiently with their Emirates ID.
