Dubai: With the start of the academic year 2020/2021 just a few weeks away, RoadSafetyUAE’s CSR-Partner STS School Transport Services developed a holistic safety protocol which includes effective COVID-19 related protection measures besides existing generic school bus safety elements.

“STS stands for School Transport Services, but we refer to these letters as ‘Safe-Timely-Smart’ to bring our mission and core values to life. In these challenging times, there is a renewed focus on the safety aspect of our operations, and we have added a comprehensive list of COVID-19 related safety requirements for our student school bus services. The new protocol, which is in line with the relevant authorities’ requirements addresses students, our buses, our drivers and bus guardians and our entire fleet operation. We make sure that all of our people are well trained and familiar with the new situation and the latest safety protocols. We have the responsibility for over 80,000 students who we transport daily in our fleet of 2,500 buses. These new protocols are vital to our safety commitment and to assure the whole education community that the school bus is the safest way to travel to and from school.“, states Steve Burnell, Managing Director of STS. “The safety protocol includes pre-trip bus sanitisation, the social distancing of students before boarding, face mask mandate, personal hygiene, temperature checks, smart bus ID-card scanning, monitoring student welfare, social distancing and signage on-board, seat belt mandate, social distancing upon de-boarding and post-trip bus sanitisation.”, he continues.

Thomas Edelmann, Founder & Managing Director of RoadSafetyUAE explains: “We love working with STS, as they bring their initiatives to life in such a dedicated and creative way. In this instance, STS developed a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCyBX-53QG0), digital media and collateral for their eco-system like a poster (attached to this press release), and more. We regard STS as the leader in the school bus industry and we applaud them for adapting to the ‘new normal’ in school bus transportation in such an exemplary manner. COVID-19 brings a lot of change to the society and certainly parents want to have the extra reassurance that their children are being transported in the safest way there is!”

STS and RoadSafetyUAE have been working over the past years to jointly promote school bus safety via various initiatives directly at schools, promoting the STS ‘Smart School Bus’, an award-winning programme in partnership with RTA, joint speeches at events, and more. The partners developed a dedicated topic on RoadSafetyUAE’s on-line portal where also the mentioned materials of this press release can be found:
