Turner & Townsend has been appointed as country project manager to a third consecutive 12-month contract with Nissan in Dubai, with responsibility for maintaining retail standards across the automotive business’ outlets.

The commission will see Turner & Townsend oversee project initiation and design management for Nissan’s retail projects, monitoring and tracking them through delivery, managing supply chains and driving cost efficiency.

In addition, the Dubai team will also provide specific support on design standards, including ensuring brand compliance and providing training to dealers, client teams, suppliers and contractors.

The appointment builds on the global professional services consultancy’s existing relationship with Nissan, which includes providing project, programme and cost management services at a global and regional level.

For the financial year of 2019, the plan is to undertake around 19 Middle East-based projects across UAE, Qatar, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain to be migrated to Nissan’s latest retail concept.

Turner & Townsend’s partnership with Nissan goes back more than 37 years, beginning with supporting the construction of a UK manufacturing plant in Sunderland in the mid 1980s; then moving on to work on Nissan North America in Nashville, USA; Nissan Europe in Paris, France; and finally to the global headquarters in Yokohama, Japan.

Hudson Fountain, Director at Turner & Townsend said, “Ensuring consistency and efficient use of resources is essential for a global brand like Nissan as it maintains and builds its presence in the Middle East. Securing this Dubai-based engagement in addition to our regional and global appointments, further strengthens our relationship with Nissan to achieve these objectives.”
