Not satisfied with gold class cinemas, a multiplex company has teamed up with one of the world’s top chefs to create a cinema hall serving fine-dining food and beverages.
Called Vox ThEATre by Rhodes, it’s a partnership between Vox Cinemas and British chef Gary Rhodes, who relocated from the UK to Dubai to focus on his modern British-style restaurants here, including Rhodes W1 at the Grosvenor House.
The special menu devised by Rhodes will be prepared by in-house chefs and served in specially created cinema halls at the new Vox Cinemas development at the Mall of the Emirates extension in September, to be followed by Yas Mall and Nation Towers in Abu Dhabi. The halls will have their own lounges, interior design, table service and “interactive cinema seats”.
Rhodes called it “an exciting new marriage and challenge that we hope to turn into a culinary taste that blends and complements the movie experience Vox Cinemas has always been known to offer and now adding a new venture that I feel proud to be part of.”
The famously meticulous chef has been involved with everything from staff training to kitchen set-up, cutlery design and menu preparations. Pricing for the screening and food is still being finalised.

He says the new Vox Mall Of The Emirates cinema will be the largest cinema in the Middle East, with Imax laser projection system (the first in the Middle East, he says), a 4DX cinema and two Vox Kids cinemas. Mitchell calls Vox ThEATre by Rhodes “the piece de resistance for the cinema”.
“Chef Gary’s tireless attention to detail and unique mastery of the culinary craft has truly brought to life this concept and we look forward to launching it first at Mall of The Emirates, then across our circuit from September.”
