AJMAN - The Ministry of Education aims to adopt a unified modern educational vision to discover and sponsor gifted students, said Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education.

This vision will help Emirati schools create appropriate future educational policies and adopt the latest practices, in line with international standards, he said. The schools can also scrutinise, review and improve their current policies accordingly, the Minister said.

The Minister made this statement in his speech at the Educational Policies Dialogue' titled 'The Policies of Discovering and Sponsoring Gifted Students,' organised by the Regional Centre for Educational Planning, RCEP, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, and held at the Teachers Training Institute Theatre in Ajman.

The two-day dialogue aims to showcase the best international methods of discovering and sponsoring gifted students. The first day discussed Arab and international experiences while the second day will deliberate on the UAE’s policy of discovering and sponsoring gifted students.

Al Hammadi said the UAE’s leadership aims to develop and prepare creative, innovative and inventive future generations who have different personalities, identities and talents, as well as unique ideas and initiatives. "They are living in a creative country that craves for challenges and competition, aims to achieve the first place, and believes that gifted students are the nation’s assets. Therefore, discovering and sponsoring them and investing in their capabilities at an early stage will benefit the community as they are the best investment in the future," he said in the speech.

The process of discovering gifted students is a collaborative and integrative process that begins at home and continues at school and civil society, the Minister said. This process is necessary to achieve the UAE’s current education goals, which are characterised by integration and a future vision that focuses on the best international educational practices, he added.
