Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Wednesday urged commuters to arrive at least 30 minutes before departure to account for delays that might arise out of Covid-related restrictions at Dubai Metro stations.

The advisory comes in light of precautionary measures being undertaken at the public transport stations to limit the spread of Covid-19. These include ensuring appropriate social distancing and reduced capacity in trains, due to which the authority noted that metro users may experience delays in their journeys.

Arriving half an hour early would enable commuters to have a smooth and successful journey, it said.

The tip was one of three instructions the RTA recommended in a post published on its official social media account.

Users were additionally advised to adhere to all safety precautions, such as wearing masks — and ensuring it covers the face well — at all times, whether in the station or on the trains. Commuters are also required to maintain a safe social distance and give way for those entering or exiting the trains.

A final tip involves ensuring that users enter the right cabin for their journey. With different compartments earmarked for different travellers — especially ones for women and children — passengers can ensure a hassle-free journey by ensuring they board the right cabins.
