Egypt parliament summons 10 ministers to review government performance

Egypt’s House of Representatives has summoned 10 ministers for a review of their respective ministries’ work implementing the government’s programme.

Next Sunday, the parliament will receive Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla. The ministers will outline their efforts regarding the implementation of the government programmes.

Next Monday, Parliament will continue its hearing sessions with Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait and Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine El-Kabbaj. They will be followed, on Tuesday, by Minister of Justice Omar Marwan.

Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker and Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem El Gazzar will be summoned on Wednesday. Meanwhile, on Thursday, parliament will listen to Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Anany and Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed.

The General Committee of the House of Representatives, which is headed by Hanafi Gebali, summoned Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. This was due to negative observations and shortcomings reported in the implementation of the governmental programme.

As a result of this, the General Committee decided to summon Madbouly and other 18 ministers to present the position of each ministry on the implementation of the programme. This has come in accordance with Article 136 of the Constitution, and Articles 26 and 27 of the bylaws.

During the past week, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Water Resources and Irrigation, and Agriculture, have all attended parliament to review their ministries’ implementation of different projects in the past period.
