SHARJAH- H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the work of the 50th of the General Assembly of the Arab Air Transport Association on Monday at Expo Centre Sharjah.

More than 250 leaders from the civil aviation industry in the Arab and international worlds are participating in the three-day aviation meeting.

Adel Abdullah Ali, CEO of Air Arabia Group, in his capacity as Chairman of the 50th General Assembly of the Arab Air Transport Association, delivered a speech in which he welcomed, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah; he also praised the support of His Highness to the aviation sector in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Abdulwahab Tofaha , the Secretary General of the Arab Air Transport Association, said the UAE has been playing a key role in the aviation industry.

He noted that low-cost carriers had reduced air travel cost in the Arab World by 22 % at present from 5% in 2006.

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chief Executive of Emirates Group, and a number of Sheikhs and senior officials attended the opening ceremony.
