Saudi-based Diriyah Gate Development signs deal with Misk Art Institute

Saudi-based Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) has signed an agreement with Misk Art Institute (MAI) to boost inter-company cooperation.

The MoU aims to provide inter-company counsel on information related to the arts sector and the research and documentation of artwork; hold training courses for artists and art professionals; and establish internships in the arts and culture sectors. It also offers consultancy and advisory services on developing resources in the arts sector.

This partnership comes in line with DGDA's grand plans to turn the historic Saudi city into one of the world’s foremost lifestyle destinations for culture and heritage, hospitality, retail and education, said the statement from the Authority.

As part of its ambitious plans for the kingdom, DGDA will be setting up a revolutionary hub dedicated to supporting innovation in the fields of digital art, artificial intelligence (AI) and modern technologies.

Spread over 10,000 sq m area, it will boast six art studios, a library, an art store, workspace for artists, and halls for workshops and training classes to form an integrated creative platform to promote digital arts.

The Diriyah Gate developer pointed out that the MAI partnership was part of the Saudi Vision 2030 linked policies, aimed at creating increased job opportunities and prospects for the local community and putting the country on the world tourist map.

Under the agreement, both sides will exchange artwork and information across media resources between MAI, DGDA and others.

"The planned artistic projects in Diriyah aim to make a quantum leap in the culture and arts sphere and are expected to change the artistic landscape of the Kingdom," remarked Reem Alsultan, CEO of Misk Art Institute, after signing the deal with Jerry Inzerillo CEO of DGDA.

"The memo comes within the framework of the Institute's eagerness to provide support, consultancy, and training to all bodies and firms working in the art and creative sector. This will transform the city into a vital hub for visitors and tourists both inside and outside the kingdom," she stated.

On the MAI partnership, CEO Jerry Inzerillo said: "DGDA is delighted to boost its collaboration with the Misk Art Institute through this deal, as through its recent successful projects, the Institute has played an intrinsic role in the cultural life of the kingdom, and we look forward to our future joint endeavors."
