Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, issued a decision to postpone the mandatory implementation of the advance cargo information (ACI) system at maritime ports to the beginning of October instead of 1 July.

The trial operation of the ACI system will continue until the end of September, according to a statement on Wednesday.

Thus, importers, agents, and exporting companies will have more time to register on the new system which aims at facilitating and automating customs clearance procedures.

The new system will enable authorities to start the customs clearance procedures before the arrival of shipments which will lead to cutting clearance time and reducing the costs of goods.
