Sharjah - University Hospital Sharjah (UHS) - a leading healthcare provider in the UAE and region - is all set to hold the 3rd Paediatric/Neonatal International Conference, under the theme 'Healthy Child for a Safe Future', which will take place on the 20th of February in Dubai, with the participation of a large selection of paediatricians and specialists in paediatric surgery.

UHS has already finished the final touches and all preparations to hold the paediatrics conference, during which the participating physicians and paediatric specialists and surgeons will discuss medial issues related to neonatal medicine and the latest developments in this field, especially with regards to various neurological and respiratory diseases.

The conference will also highlight the medical problems of older children with a focus on asthma, and discuss the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of asthma around the world.

Speaking about the conference, Prof Hakam Yaseen, Senior Consultant Paediatrician/Neonatologist, and Medical Director of University Hospital Sharjah, said: "All the necessary preparations are already in place to hold this important conference, which is of great significance both in light of the topics for discussion on its agenda as well as in terms of the presence of an elite group of medical experts and specialists in the field of paediatrics and neonatology. We believe the conference will be a qualitative addition to the diagnostic and treatment trends in the UAE, which continuously strives to support medical professionals to ensure the provision of the best standards of health care and treatment for children from birth to various advanced ages."

The conference will explore a number of topics related to paediatrics and developments in the areas of neonatology and premature babies, respiratory problems and asthma, vaccination, nutrition, growth, birth defects and chronic diseases, with participation of consultants and experts from the UAE, GCC countries and the United Kingdom (UK).

The list of speakers includes Prof Malcolm Levine, consultant neonatologist and Head of the Department of Pediatrics in Leeds, UK, Prof Hakam Yaseen, Senior Consultant Paediatrician/ Neonatologist, and Medical Director of UHS, Dr Junaid Khan, Head of the Paediatric Department at Al Rahba Hospital in Abu Dhabi, Neil Gibson, Professor of Respiratory Diseases at Children's Hospital, University of Glasgow in UK, and Dr Ayman Rahbani, head of Paediatrics at Tawam Hospital in Al Ain.

The speakers also include Dr Mohammed El Halik, head of Paediatrics at Latifa Hospital, Dr Faris Shadid, Head of Neonatology at Tawam Hospital, Dr Hisham Tawakul, Consultant Neonatologist at the Abu Dhabi Corniche Hospital, Dr Asmaa Al Nuaimi, Consultant Paediatric Pulmonologist at Zayed Military Hospital, and Dr Hanan Sharif, Pediatric Consultant at University Hospital in Sharjah.
