ABYAN, 26th October, 2016 (WAM) The first phase of Ju'ar power station in Abyan Governorate, Yemen, has been inaugurated by the UAE as part of its massive humanitarian, relief and development initiative to alleviate the suffering of the people of Yemen.

Abyan had been experiencing power outage for more than a year and half as a result of the destruction of the national power grid distribution system in Sanaa, Marib, Aden, Taiz and Abyan during the brutal war being waged by the Houthi-Saleh militias and the Al Qaeda terrorist group.

Ahmed Ali Daha, Director-General of Abyan Electricity, thanked the UAE for its prompt response to provide electricity to these areas.

He stated that power generators provided by the UAE would add 4 MW which would contribute to easing the suffering of people in the directorates of Khanfar and Zinjibar.
