Dubai, UAE - 23rd June 2015

The General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunications Sector (TRA) encourages UAE digital content creators to submit their entries for the World Summit Award e-Content 2015 (WSA 2015). The event will give participants the opportunity to learn about the world's best e-content and interact with internationally renowned speakers and experts. The UAE TRA has officially called all UAE individuals, public and private entities to submit for entries on the TRA official website by July 2, 2015.

The application process is now open, with TRA being the national expert spearheading the nomination process for the United Arab Emirates.

The contest is composed of eight core categories that reflect the most crucial social issues of every-day life around the globe. Projects can be submitted in any one of the following: Government & Open Data; Health & Environment; Learning & Science; Entertainment & Games; Culture & Tourism; Media & News; Business & Commerce and Inclusion & Participation. Evaluation is based upon the concept of excellence in content and creativity and includes innovation in terms of applications.

"The ICT industry has allowed us to envision and aspire for sustainable development and overall enhancement of our nation. With advancements in digital content, we are certain that our nation will be positively affected from an environmental, cultural and social aspect. Participating in this event reaffirms the UAE's commitment towards enhancing the ICT Sector and aims at formulating every aspect of our lives to revolve around the concept of innovation in ICT," said H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri, TRA Director General.

After the national pre-selection period, a jury of eminent experts will come together to evaluate the submissions and select the 18-15 best products from hundreds of international nominations. The eight WSA winners will get the chance to present their digital content at the WSA award ceremoney and gala.

The event will also offer a platform for high-level experts, industry leaders, and government representatives to discuss innovation in digital content.

All UAE individuals, public and private entities wishing to take part in the contest should submit their entries to the UAE TRA official website (www.tra.gov.ae) by the July 2, 2015 deadline.
