Seef District - Kingdom of Bahrain, Wednesday - April 15th,  2015:  Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) Bahrain announces the publication of a second public consultation on the SIM-Card Enabled Telecommunications Services Registration Regulation on its official website last Thursday, the 9th of April 2015.

The new regulation requires the licensees to follow a more thorough registration and verification process for both prepaid and post paid subscribers in order to better protect the interests and privacy of mobile subscribers..

Director of the Authority's Cyber Security Directorate, Dr. Khalid Bin Daij Al Khalifa was quoted in stating that "Following the first round of public consultation on the prepaid registration regulation, it has become evident to the Authority that the risks to the privacy and security of consumers are not just limited to prepaid market, and that further amendments were required in order to safeguard the interests of all types of consumers" Dr. Khalid further added that "After considering the feedback received we have had to carry out some material amendments to the previously published draft, which has necessitated a second round of public consultation in order to obtain the stakeholders feedback on the new regulation."
