Sharjah - Sharjah's Central Finance Department (CFD) announced the full transition of thegovernment financial system, which supports financial transactions between the emirate's various governments (G2G), to electronic government.

One of the first departments of their kind to perform such a transition in the UAE and the wider Arab region, CFD made the announcementin a press conference that it held yesterday at its headquarters.

The press conference was attended by heads and directors of government entities in Sharjah, as well as representatives of local, Arab and international media.

According to Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, Chairman of CFD, this transition comes in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to improve government financial services and facilitate action for government entities in the emirate, positively affecting performance and speed of delivery.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi pointed out that this shift reflects CFD's vision of creating a leading government financial system at the level of the Arab world, while achieving the objective of bringing financial stability to the Government of Sharjah.

The Chairman of CFD stressed the importance of transforming to a smart financial system that eliminates many of the procedures relating to the approval of financial transactions, confirming the secure nature of the new system.

HE Walid Al Sayegh, Director General of CFD, said following the completion of its e-transformation, the department shifted to smart government, leaping to the forefront of its counterparts in the UAE and the Arab region.

He noted that the various developments witnessed by the department come as part of its strategic plan, which includes a number of programmes aimed at providing financial services according to the highest standards and streamlining business processes in Sharjah's various government entities.

HE Al Sayegh pointed out that CFD has been implementing development and modernisation plans since 2006, when His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah inaugurated Takamul, the government financial system linking the financial systems of 62 government bodies in Sharjah with CFD.

During the press conference, the Director General of CFD gave a presentation on the electronic and smart services offered by the new system, which enables the completion of work procedures in a secure electronic environment. These procedures cover budget, procurement, accounting, inventory and financial control, in addition to technical support, senior management reports, follow-up of strategic plans and revenue collection.
