Saudi contractors were locked in 1,813 court cases in the past 10 months and the bulk of them involved financial disputes and project delays, according to official data.

The number of offences by contractors handled by the Gulf Kingdom’s courts since September was around 5 percent lower than the cases recorded in the previous 10 months, figures by the Saudi Justice Ministry showed.

Nearly 47 percent of the cases over the past 10 months, or around 852 cases, were handled by courts in the capital Riyadh, the report showed.

The Eastern Port of Dammam recorded the second largest number of such cases of 337, followed by the Red Sea Port of Jeddah, with 321 offences, and the Western cities of Mecca and Medina with 74 and 55 cases respectively.
