26 April 2015
RICS, the independent professional body regulating and accrediting professionals within the land, property and real estate industries, today announced that Mr Nicholas Maclean of CBRE has been appointed Chairman of the RICS MENA Market Advisory Panel (MENA MAP).

The MENA MAP has a pivotal role to play in the development of RICS' aim to be the leading body that develops and enforces professional standards in the industry, and offers access to the most sought after professional status in land, property and construction.

Nicholas Mclean joins the RICS Market Advisory Panel as Chairman having more than 25 years' global real estate experience. As Managing Director for CBRE Middle East Region, the world's largest commercial real estate services firm, he is responsible for setting and implementing the firm's strategies for growth across the region, as well as overseeing CBRE's office in Turkey and the firm's business across North Africa and The Levant.

"I am proud to welcome such an experienced industry professional as Nicholas to chair the RICS Panel. He brings with him a wealth of experience that will be critical in ensuring the Panels objectives are met".

Robert Jackson, Director RICS MENA

Since relocating to the UAE more than 10 years ago, Mr. Maclean has worked with the region's most high profile private and government entities, advising on some of the largest multi-million dollar acquisitions and commercial deals both in the region and globally.

Nicholas, also a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Member of the Institute of Rating, Revenue and Valuation (IRRV), will play a pivotal role in progressing RICS' growth strategy in the MENA region by continuing to focus on recognition, profile, membership development and commercial services and to report and advise the RICS Management Board on the optimum approach to developing and implementing the growth plan. The MENA MAP will also advise the Management Board on the development and support required for other local, geographically based members/groups, communicating RICS strategy and direction.

"I will endeavour to promote a healthy exchange of dialogue within member organisations along with playing a key role in developing expertise in the real estate valuation business across the MENA region. I am honoured by the opportunity to work alongside some of the most reputed professionals from our business and look forward to significantly enhance RICS' offerings in the region."

Nicholas Maclean, Managing Director, CBRE Middle East

In addition to his principle responsibilities at CBRE, Maclean sits as Chairman of The Lillian Sutton (SoC) trust fund and is Vice President of the charity 'Story of Christmas' (the real estate sectors charity for supporting homeless and underprivileged children).  He was appointed a 'GlobalScot' by the First Minister of Scotland and holds the Reserve Decoration.  He is a graduate of the UK Royal Naval Reserve staff courses at both Greenwich and Shrivenham and represented the UK on staff course at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto.
