Half-day session offers an introduction to the burgeoning USD2 trillion sector

Dubai, UAE: Progress Training and Consultancy, the UAE's premier professional training specialists, have today announced that they will be running a seminar, on 21 February, entitled: "Concepts of Islamic Finance".

The half-day seminar is seen as an introductory session to the six-month, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) course that PROGRESS currently offers to career professionals looking to enhance their skills in this rapidly growing, USD2 trillion sector.

Those attending the half-day seminar will receive a participation certificate from PROGRESS and be invited to sign up for the CIMA accredited courses.

The CIMA Diplomas in Islamic Finance (CDIF) courses are exam-based qualifications; however, they only take an average of six months to complete. CIMA's Islamic Finance diplomas (CDIFs) are accredited exam-based qualifications that are accepted worldwide.

"Islamic Finance can no longer be just seen as a niche area of the finance industry," says Nada Saeed.

"For those close or even directly related to the finance profession, training in Islamic Finance is no longer something that is useful in the Middle East.

"Already we have the UK, Hong Kong and South Africa providing clear examples of non-Muslim countries being active in the sector, having issued their first sukuks ("bonds") in 2014. Therefore, having these qualifications makes sense for all professionals involved in the finance sector," concluded Saeed.

The half-day seminar, on 21st February, will be held at Shangri-La, Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road, with RSVPs needed to confirm attendance.

The seminar is AED200 per person; however participants who sign up for the CIMA accredited, CDIF courses may be elibible for a 40 per cent discount if they can demonstrate previous experience or relevant qualifications. The discount is at PROGRESS Training & Consultancy's discrection.

The exam-based CIMA-CIDF qualifications, come in four modules. These include: Islamic Commercial Law; Banking and Takaful; Islamic Capital Markets and Instruments; and Accounting for Islamic Financial Institutions.

The next CIMA course starts on 14 February 2015; however, registration for this intake will end on 10 February. The course length is six months, after which exams are taken and the successful participants will receive their certified qualifications.

The CDIF costs GBP800 / AED4,599, for one subject or GBP2,800 / AED16,100 for all four subjects. Interested parties able to register at: info@progress.ae or by calling +971 4 3697 179.
