Park Inn by Radisson Muscat and Park Inn by Radisson Hotel & Residence Duqm were tested under the "Green Key" terms, based on 12 criteria developed by an international committee, and includes enterprise environmental management; monitor of water and electricity usage, educational trainings among employees and guests, as well as cooperation with the local community. Green Key is a prestigious international eco-label for the tourism industry. In order to gain Green Key certification, hotels have to fulfil a list of requirements, including environmental standards policy, action plans, education and communication. Obtaining the Green Key shows the sense of responsibility our hotels have for surroundings and society.

Park Inn by Radisson Muscat as one of the first two hotels in Sultanate of Oman to received the Green Key award in 2011. Following to its footstep is the newly opened Park Inn by Radisson Hotel & Residence Duqm that offers 73 chalets and apartments perfect for leisure and business travellers.

To obtain this prestigious certificate, hotels must perform fairly a large number of eco-requirements, such as environmental standards, the requirements of the statute, action plans, staff training and communication. The presence of the "Green Key" Certificate shows the organization's responsibility towards the environment and society. Before passing the eco-certification control check, the hotels independently conducted an internal audit and confirmed compliance with the mandatory criteria of the program. Finn Bolding Thomsen, Green Key Programme Director, auditing the two hotels said: "Well done for the hard work with the implementation of the Green Key programme at Park Inn by Radisson Hotels in Sultanate of Oman.

Rabih Zein, general manager at for both Park Inn hotels in Oman, said "Thanks to our preparedness and the whole-hearted participation of our entire staff, we were successful in meeting the rigorous requirements expected from us. As a responsible business hotel, we will continue to be passionate about being an active participant in the growth and development of its local community."  I would like to thank my team for the great job that they have done and for maintaining the sustainability activities in both hotels. Both hotels will continue working to save 10% on water consumption, to reduce energy consumption per guest by 5% and to spend 10% of the total food budget on organically grown products. These efforts take place within the larger context of Think Planet, Rezidor's ambitious project aimed at reducing energy consumption by 25% in five years.
