On Sunday 1st of March, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Qatar Section which is chaired by Sheikh Faisal Bin Fahad Al-Thani Deputy Manager Director of Maersk Oil Qatar, held the latest in the series of Distinguished Lectures at the Four Seasons Hotel Doha, which was attended by local oil and gas professionals and students.
The title of the presentation was "Moving the Frontiers in Artificial Lift Technology in Mature Field Operations", presented by Mr. Siegfried Muessig - Technology and Quality Manager at RAG, Vienna, Austria.
Speaker at the learning event, Mr.Muessig, explained how the premature abandonment of mature fields that still contain significant oil and gas reserves can often be avoided through the application of novel technology and approaches in particular artificial lift techniques. The presentation provided a case study showing the process of combating the loss of reserves and valuable energy resources and gave a detailed insight of potential technical solutions and their commercial impact.
