Jeddah: Desert Technologies, a leading provider of renewable solar energy solutions, announced the Board of Directors’ decision approving the appointment of Mr. Ahmad Saleh Alhusseini as Group Chief Strategy Officer effective from August 29th, 2021.

Ahmad Alhusseini has a distinguished professional track record that will support the company inline with the ambitions of KSA national renewable energy program, which aims to increase the generation capacity of renewable energy sources per KSA’s Vision 2030 programs.

Desert Technologies confirmed in its statement that this position is part of the group's new organization chart and a cornerstone in its new strategy aimed at strengthening its leading position in the field of solar energy, while focusing on business diversification, and exploring investment opportunities in the renewable energy space in the local and regional markets.

DT’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Sultan Khalid Alturki expressed his happiness with the appointment of Mr. Ahmad Alhusseini as Group Chief Strategy Officer, pointing out that such appointment by DT board is a reflection of Ahmad’s passion and leadership into the renewable energy and energy solutions industry that has been well recognized and for his ability to lead the company’s strategy towards new horizons, enabling the company to achieve tangible results for its shareholders in the medium term. Adding that DT has made investing in human capital and young leaders a cornerstone in its human capital strategy since Company inception and that Ahmad appointment is the latest exemplary act of such strategy.

In a statement he made on this occasion, Mr. Ahmad Alhusseini said: “I have been both blessed and humbled to be appointed in this vital role by the board of directors of Desert Technologies. I am aware of the magnitude of this challenge and wish for a successful journey aimed at providing the desired value for the company’s shareholders and KSA market at large in line with its vision.”

According to the Group’s statement, Mr. Alhusseini holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Prince Sultan University, along with a diploma from IMD Business School in Switzerland. In 2017, Mr. Alhusseini joined the PIF of KSA as one of the PIF members of the portfolio companies' governance department and was recently - up to August 2021 - a senior portfolio manager.

Mr. Alhusseini’s career took him to various institutions from working with a national consulting house to working with EY, during which he has developed managerial experiences in both consulting and financial fields. Mr. Alhusseini served on several companies as a board secretary and has most recently experienced supporting companies in their IPO readiness file.
