Manama:  Zain Bahrain, a leading telecommunications operator in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has sponsored internet connectivity to teachers and students at the Deena Kanoo Micro-School, the country’s first hospital school that supports the education for ill children. The internet sponsorship will ensure that the children and teachers are entrusted with better connectivity and will continue to have an uninterrupted learning experience.

The sponsorship underscores Zain Bahrain’s dedication to sharing the growing commitment to social responsibility and its efforts towards enhancing education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company has incessantly focused on initiatives towards education and training as part of its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that contribute towards making a difference in the Kingdom as it transitions towards a knowledge-based economy.

Sheikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Director, Communications & Investor Relations at Zain Bahrain said, “During these unprecedented times, as more of the world becomes digital, those unable to connect will be left behind. It is, therefore, crucial that everyone should get online; especially, students and teachers. As part of our community-related initiatives, we aim to generate education opportunities for all. Hence this sponsorship is important to us as connectivity will enable the teachers at Deena School to teach their students who will be able to learn without any hindrance.”

Deena Kanoo Micro-School provides an educational program in Salmaniya Medical Complex that enables students forced to stay in the hospital for long durations to interact with each other, their teachers, and volunteers. The school consists of two classrooms where the students are linked to an electronic learning platform to follow their study and self-training under the guidance of highly qualified teachers.

Zain Bahrain believes that a corporate entity should be a supporting pillar of the community it serves and undertakes CSR initiatives and sponsorships to facilitate the empowerment of communities, inclusive socio-economic growth, environment protection, and upliftment of the marginalized and under-privileged sections of the society.
