Dubai, UAE: Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, will host this year’s SAMENA Council Leaders’ Summit for the 8th consecutive year. The highly awaited Summit will be held under the theme ‘Championing Digital Economic Growth from Policy to Reality’, and will gather industry leaders to discuss the need to drive a digital-led economic growth to bring life back on track post COVID-19.

The SAMENA Council Leaders’ Summit 2021 will welcome Chairmen and CEOs from private sectors, policy makers and top decision-makers from various regulatory authorities, spanning the Middle East, Asia and North Africa regions, as well as global leaders and entities focused on institutionalizing and fostering cross-sector collaboration. The Summit’s premier virtual destination for leadership aims to open dialogue and exchange expertise on matters ranging from digital economics, value ecosystems and various advanced technologies. This comes at a time when the GCC has become the first region in the world to adopt 5G technology, and the Middle has become a reference point for global 5G commercial use.

Following the year 2020 and in the wake of 5G developments, there is a particular need to sustain momentum around economic development opportunities, both in established and emerging markets, from multiple sectors and verticals. There is also a need to leverage the role of broadband networks and advanced mobile technologies to foster sustainable growth of the newly emerging social and business value ecosystems.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increased demand for telecommunications networks to support home offices, distance learning and telemedicine to maintain social distancing. In order to meet this demand, 5G technology is the ultimate option to support network pressure, which requires strengthening digital infrastructure to make systems more resilient and sustainable for future.
