Emirates Post, the official postal service of the UAE, has recorded a 45 percent surge in last-mile delivery volumes since the beginning of the year compared to Q4 2019, with e-commerce accounting for the largest part of this increase.

E-commerce accounted to for one in every three last-mile deliveries so far this year.

“We identified last-mile delivery as one of our key growth areas last year and have been bolstering our network to ensure that we have the reach and resources to cater to the demands of online retailers as well as government and business entities,” Abdulla Mohammed Al Ashram, Acting Group CEO of Emirates Post Group Company said.

“This is the future of post and it is critical that our processes and systems have the agility to cater to local and international demand, whilst offering the best in pricing and efficiencies to our clients,” he said.

Emirates Post has delivered close to 2 million shipments to customers since January 1, 2020 on behalf of government, banking organisations and e-commerce retailers.

Demand for home deliveries is surging as authorities worldwide are encouraging the public to observe social distancing or isolate themselves at home to avoid contracting the coronavirus.
