JEDDAH — Localization of Saudi Arabia's industrial sector, including the military industry is, a top priority, said Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al-Khorayef, adding that his ministry is working toward achieving the goal.

The move, which seeks to build qualified personnel among the Saudi youth generation, will also be done through adopting modern technologies and industrial intelligence, in a way that helps Saudi Arabia's ability to grow in this field and supports human capabilities, the minister said.

Al-Khorayef made the remarks during his visit to the Aircraft Accessories and Components Co. Ltd. (AACC) under the Saudi Arabian Military Industries Company (SAMI), the Saudi Press Agency reported.

He explained that the localization of industries is one of the strategies that the Ministry of Industry is working on as it seeks to stimulate and support the sector and replace much more imported products with locally-made ones.

During his visit to AACC, the minister received both the CEO of the SAMI Walid Abu Khaled, and the CEO of the AACC Mazen Gohar, where he was given a brief visual presentation on the capabilities and services of the AACC.

Al-Khorayef also praised the AACC’s role in supporting and developing technologies used in the military industries, and its efforts to develop local products in this vital sector and invest in Saudi youth.
