The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Friday announced 747 new cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, as well as 398 new recoveries.

The new cases were detected after 38,000 tests.

MoHAP also reported the deaths of two patients due to complications.

The tally of infections as of today stands at 21,831 with 7,328 recoveries and 210 deaths.

The ministry has affirmed its aim to expand the scope of testing nationwide to facilitate the early detection of coronavirus cases and carry out the necessary treatment.

It has called on the public to cooperate with health authorities and adhere to social distancing protocols and preventative measures to ensure the health and safety of all.

In line with its efforts to conduct proactive Covid-19 medical examinations, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has launched a highly-sophisticated mobile unit to conduct testing in densely populated areas, especially labour camps. The advanced bus meets all regulations for protection of staff, medical professionals and people being screened. The screening capacity of the bus is 1,000 individuals per day.

The testing bus will also be available to certain segments of society such as the elderly and people unable to visit health centres due to underlying medical conditions.

On Thursday, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) announced that its humanitarian aid and relief projects benefitted over 17 million people across the world with a total expenditure of Dh262 million in 2019.

In another initiative, the UAE has also announced free Covid-19 testing for Emiratis and some expats.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has directed the authorities to make Covid-19 testing free for all Emiratis and their domestic workers. He also told authorities to make the testing free for some expatriates - people of determination, pregnant women, those aged above 50 and anyone who has come in direct contact with infected individuals.
