Tehran - Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Export Company (NIGEC) Alireza Kameli said on Tuesday that 200 million cubic meters of gas will be exported to Georgia in a period of seven months.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and also Georgian Minister of Energy, Kakha Kaladze.
Kameli told reporters that agreement with Georgia would be win-win game and that Georgian public and private sector have demanded Iranian gas.
He said that NIGEC will initiate export of gas to Georgia in two months time after finalizations of the negotiations underway between the two sides.
He said that Georgia should receive necessary permissions from Armenian government for laying gas pipeline from Iran to Georgia through Armenian territory.
Petroleum Minister Bijan Zangeneh said after his meeting with Kakha Kaladze that export of gas to Georgia and possibility for joint venture investment in the petrochemical industry in Georgia are under consideration.
He said that Iran will provide the feedstock for petrochemical project to be commissioned on joint venture scheme with Georgian companies.
Kaladze said that the outlook for mutual cooperation between the two countries is bright and that details for import of gas from Iran to Georgia is under consideration.
He said that there are two ways for exporting gas from Iran to Georgia; one through Azerbaijan Republic and the other through Armenia.
