A number of contracts were signed yesterday to build power transmission networks to supply electricity to strategic projects in the country.

The 200 kV and 66 kV networks will supply power to housing projects such as Salman Town, East Hidd Town, Al Ramli as well as the King Abdullah Medical City and Sports City.

An additional contract was signed for the laying of 66 kV marine and terrestrial cables to supply power to Hawar Islands.

The deals were signed between Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Wael Al Mubarak and Electricity and Water Authority chief executive Shaikh Nawaf bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa in the presence of Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.

The project is funded by the Saudi Development Fund as part of its Gulf Development Programme.
