Bayer reconfirms its commitment as a leading life science company to Dubai as regional hub for innovation.

New office design incorporates new ways of working founded on an Activity-Based-Work (ABW) set-up in line with COVID-19 safety measures.

Dubai: Bayer Middle East FZE recently inaugerated its new regional headquarters at Dubai Science Park (DSP).

In this context, Bayer reconfirms its commitment as a leading life science company to Dubai as regional hub for innovation.

Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, Managing Director of Dubai Science Park, said: “Dubai Science Park was established more than a decade ago to promote innovation across science, healthcare, renewable energy and other knowledge-based industries that create a diversified, sustainable economy. We have since grown to become a hub of more than 350 local and multinational organisations aligned with the UAE’s vision to facilitate a self-sufficient future that maximises the use of indigenous resources and talent. We are delighted to see Bayer expand its presence in our community and believe the life sciences leader will continue to add substantial value to the regional healthcare ecosystem from its modern office focused on collaboration and productivity.”

Bayer’s new office design incorporates new ways of working founded on an Activity-Based-Work (ABW) set-up. This underlying conceptual approach aims to set new standards in regards to the workplace organization.  The contemporary office design is based on a holistic approach, aiming to utilize space in a way to foster engagement, inspire innovation and drive productivity.

In this regard, ABW anticipates to empower employees by providing more choice and variety of spaces and therefore autonomy in their work environment. Morever, ABW creates workplaces which enables Bayer to achieve its goals, overcome challenges and brings its values to life. It integrates elements of space, digital technology and innovation to create a compelling overall workplace and experience.

Employees are enabled to choose from a wider array of settings such as workstations, touchdown spaces, open or closed collaboration spaces, focus/confidential spaces or larger spaces for socializing and ad-hoc meetings. Thus, the new office organization enhances the employee experience on their day-to-day tasks as they have a choice in when, where and how to work, which leads ultimately to higher levels of satisfaction, innovation and job performance. Hence, an ABW concept provides future-proofed spaces that can be adapted as the needs of team’s change and which is supported by an office etiquette that helps to create a mindful and supporting environment for all employees.

“Over the past few years, the way we work has evolved and our space requirements have changed. There is a desire to refresh the existing working environment, shifting from the current traditional, conservative culture to a more collaborative and creative working environment enabled by the growing input of technology.

COVID-19 has brought unprecedented human and humanitarian challenges. Many companies around the world have risen to the occasion, acting swiftly to safeguard employees and migrate to a new way of working. In such times, a well-planned workplace design ultimately can create a better experience for our talents, improve their collaboration, engagement and productivity, and reduce costs. That kind of change will require transformational thinking grounded in facts. Ultimately, the aim of this reinvention will be what good companies have always wanted: A safe environment where people can enjoy their work, collaborate with their colleagues, and achieve their objectives,” commented Henrik Wulff, Senior Bayer Representative – Middle East & Head of Bayer Pharmaceuticals Middle East.

“ABW is the blueprint for the workplace of tomorrow: the spaces, services and experiences which combine to create a world-class environment for our employees. It is the physical embodiment of our values.

Workspace today is conceived as a hub of communication, a social experience that helps to promote the interaction between people as well as the knowledge sharing. Our strategy improves communication and helps to accelerate innovation,” said Sami Joost, Project Lead and Head of Communications / Public Affairs, Science & Sustainability (PASS) – Middle East.

In addition, Bayer Middle East FZE enacted Flexible Working Arrangements (FWA) policy for its regional cluster group. The policy gives Bayer employees more autonomy and flexibility in regards remote working and working hours while maintaining high performance standards of the role.

“At Bayer, we have done well in addressing immediate safety and health concerns since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. We continue to ensure and prioritize health and safety of employees both in our offices and in field.

In alignment with our LIFE values, we continue to build a trustful and an inclusive culture, in which our employees feel empowered to achieve their full potential. The “new normal”“encourages all of us to acknowledge that each employee’s and/or team’s needs can be different. As an agile organization, we prefer to consider both flexible working hours and location together. Therefore, while leveraging our offices to collaborate and connect, our flexible working arrangements gives our employees the freedom to decide on where and when the work is done best,” added Özden Yiğit, Head of Human Resources – Middle East.
