Manama: The Bahrain Institute for Banking and Finance (BIBF) has announced the successful completion of migrating its digital systems and infrastructure to Amazon Web Services Cloud (AWS Cloud).

In this regard, the BIBF Director, Dr. Ahmed Al-Shaikh stated that this step is comes as part of our strategic direction to adopt cloud computing technologies, and in line with the Cloud-First Policy adopted by the Kingdom of Bahrain government, as well as in support of the Central Bank of Bahrain directives for banks and financial institutions to adopt the cloud approach.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Shaikh clarified that this project aims to improve the efficiency of the online solutions provided, optimise resource utilisation and ensure business continuity, while raising the level of information security. He also added, “This migration process will enable us to offer the latest technology in classes, and achieve the highest level of satisfaction for clients, students and trainees.

Dr. Al-Shaikh praised the efforts of the team to achieve this important milestone, as the migration plan was designed, configured and implemented internally by relying on the distinguished experiences and collective efforts of the IT and Operations department at the BIBF.

Commenting on this achievement, Senior Manager of IT and Operations Department at the BIBF, Mr. Shaker Al-Owainati, stated, “Today, cloud computing has become extremely important to various business sectors, and this opens up broader horizons to increase the pace of digital transformation in these sectors, which contributes to increasing innovation to provide quality learning solutions.”

He also added, “We are proud to achieve this important cloud migration for the BIBF's systems and programmes – that are closely related to the banking and financial sector in Bahrain - where the website (www.bibf.com) was successfully migrated to AWS. We have also worked throughout the last period to operate our digital platforms, such as “MyClass” e-learning platform, the “BIBF+” digital catalogue, and various e-learning services under the AWS Cloud, as this enabled us to effectively develop our online services, and move forward with the BIBF’s digital transformation plan to achieve higher operational efficiency rates.”

On his part, Strategic Accounts Lead at Amazon Web Services, Mr. Ahmed Al-Sawafiri, said, “The steps taken by the BIBF to transfer the information technology systems and processes of its online platforms to the AWS cloud, constitute a strong evidence of its commitment and continuous endeavor to provide a pioneering and quality learning experience for students. The BIBF team can now provide services in a faster, more reliable and efficient way without being concerned about the absorptive capacity.”

He also added, “This step will help the BIBF to provide tremendous growth opportunities, both inside and outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, and we look forward to continuing to provide the BIBF team with all kind of support in line with their vision and strategy towards a digital future.

The migration process to the AWS cloud computing network, the global leader in cloud computing technology, is very important because it opens up broader horizons to embark on digital transformation processes, as part of the Kingdom’s economic vision to develop the economy and encourage more technological innovation.
