Ajman, UAE: Ajman Sewerage Private Company Limited (ASPCL) has embarked on the second phase of its foul drainage and wastewater collection project at the Jurf Industrial Zone 2 as part of its long-term network expansion strategy.
The expansion project, which will include the laying of an extensive pipeline grid covering approximately 34 kilometres, will be connected to the Jurf Industrial Zone 1&3 gravity network, which currently serves over 5,550 properties.
The new facility will be constructed at a cost of AED28 million and it is expected to connect over 3,000 properties within the Jurf Industrial Zone 2 districts and will consist of 469 house connection chambers and 227 manholes.
Once completed, the Jurf Industrial Zone 2 project will increase ASPCL’s foul drainage and wastewater collection capacity by over 3.5%, representing over 169,000 properties across the Emirate of Ajman.
According to ASPCL, the network expansion follows the Emirate’s rising population, which has also seen an increase in domestic and commercial properties that need to be connected to the sewerage network.
“The Jurf Industrial Zone 2 project is part of our network expansion strategy, which is aimed at enhancing our foul drainage and wastewater collection services for the residents of Ajman. We are aware that Ajman is growing and this is part of the reason why we are also making sure that we have the right infrastructure in place in order to accommodate new developments and also meet the demand,” said the ASPCL general manager.
The new foul drainage and wastewater collection facility is expected to be complete by Q4 2020, bringing the total of ASPCL’s pipeline coverage to over 650 kilometers.
The Jurf Industrial Zone 2 project comes hot on the heels of the sludge-to-energy project, which is aimed at generating “green electricity” from the sludge generated from the ASPCL wastewater treatment plant.
