Abu Dhabi: As part of its keenness to maintain a smooth traffic flow, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) announced a new identity for its Road Service Patrol as of October 1, 2019 which will cover all main roads in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, that is in cooperation with Emirates Transport, the service operator.

H.E. Abdulkarim Abdul Rahim Al Raeesi, Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), stressed that the new identity of the Road Service Patrol and the expansion of this service to all areas of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi comes within the framework of the continuous efforts made by the Center to improve the quality of services provided to public. The Road Service Patrol plays an important role in ensuring the safety of traffic, ensuring the smooth flow of traffic and raising the operational efficiency of the emirate's road network, He added.

The new identity of the service is based on two basic principles: the security and safety of road users, while the new logo consists of three letters in English (RSP) which is an abbreviation of Road Service Patrol. The new logo consists of two main colors, orange, which is one of the colors that represents the presence of an emergency, and blue-gray that indicates providing a service. As for the vehicle of RSP, it has the service and ITC’s logos and reflective decals, where it has high-visibility in day and night. In addition, each vehicle has a vehicle-mounted Variable Message Sign (VMS) to warn approaching motorists of road incidents, as well as a communication system that is linked to the Operation Room at the Traffic Management Centre to respond to incidents in a timely manner. The patrol also provides first aid to injured and assists the police and other related parties during road crashes.

"ITC’s interest in improving the quality of services provided to the customers stems from the directions of our wise leadership to instill the concepts of innovation in serving the society and the constant pursuit of excellence in all areas," said Eng. Hamad Al Afeefi, Acting Director of the Traffic Management Division at ITC.

He added that increasing the level of traffic safety and enhancing the traffic flow on the road network of Abu Dhabi is what ITC seeks to achieve through the adoption and development of such services. In addition to enhancing facilities and components of the transport infrastructure, this will increase the efficiency of traffic management and comply with the highest standards of road safety. Al Afeefi stated that the service handled nearly 120,000 reports over the past six years at a rate of 20,000 reports annually.

The Road Service Patrol is a free of charge Service, adopted by the Abu Dhabi Government since 2009, when the first Formula1 that was hosted in Abu Dhabi, with the aim of enhancing traffic management during the event.

Due to the success achieved by the service, the government decided to activate it on major road network of Abu Dhabi City and its suburbs to raise the level of traffic safety and maintain the traffic flow. RSP manages and secures events and accident scenes, traffic management for events, secures sites of closures and traffic detours, manages traffic during maintenance of traffic systems and projects, and deals with vehicle breakdowns.

Additionally, RSP deals with breakdowns, battery charging, changing tires, fuel supply, in addition to providing free towing service and moving vehicles to the nearest safe place.

To facilitate requesting RSP, ITC offers several channels for the public like Darb Application that offers the user the opportunity to determine its accurate location on the map. In addition, users may call the ITC’s Call Centre 80088888.
