Abu Dhabi – The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport announced that it completed the vaccination of 7166 drivers by the end of May 2021 in a campaign launched in coordination with the Department of Health and Abu Dhabi Health Service Company (SEHA) in Abu Dhabi Emirate. This comes in part of a campaign that aims to vaccinate all employees and workers in the transport sector in the emirate in order to control the outbreak of COVID-19 and maintain the safety of all.

ITC stated that it has completed the vaccination of all its public bus drivers; the total of 1460 drivers. That is in addition to 5706 taxi drivers, out of 6938 drivers, which is 82% of the total number. This is part of ITC’s efforts dedicated to ensure the safety of all workers in the public transport sector for the sector’s vital role in the public’s daily commutes. Especially in cases that may require direct contact between public transport workers and users.

ITC encourages all its public transport drivers to get the vaccine and ensure everyone’s safety. ITC affirms its role in following the government’s efforts dedicated to overcome these exceptional circumstances and abide by all the precautionary and preventive measures that will curb the spread of COVID-19.

The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has been established pursuant to the law issued by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as the ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, on November 2016, in amendment of Law no. 19 of 2006 regarding Taxi regulation in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
