Sharjah - The 41st edition of the MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show concluded on a high note, at Expo Centre Sharjah, before yesterday and the success of the event, which took place from 27th of September till 1st of October, was overwhelming, particularly in terms of the high number of visitors and exhibitors.

Expo Centre Sharjah announced that the total number of visitors was 61,659 an 8% percent growth as compared to the figures of last event held in April.

HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: “Sharjah has established its reputation as a business hub in the region and beyond. The state of the art infrastructure and the advanced logistic services and facilities have played a key role in attracting international exhibitors to Sharjah and in boosting the economic competitiveness of the Emirate”. 

HE Saif Mohamed Al Midfa, CEO, Expo Centre Sharjah, said: “The 41st MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show has once again proved its leading position as a great platform for renowned and ambitious companies and brands seeking to expand in the GCC market. The show has a special importance this year, as the world gold and jewellery producers are looking for improving their revenues from the region’s market”. 

He added: “We are committed to provide the best facilities and services for exhibitors. Our proven track record in hosting major events has contributed to promote the Emirate as a key MICE destination in the region and beyond. The MICE industry is a driver for economic development, as it stimulates business activities, attracts investors to meet their peers and clients and provides impetus to the growth of the hospitality, retail and tourism sectors”.

Ayman Habash from Kanz Al Sahra Jewellery, Riyadh, KSA, said: “Our participations in exhibitions at Expo Centre Sharjah and at other exhibitions in the UAE, in general, showed the bullish mood in the company. We have commenced participation in this event 13 years ago, and have been keen, since then, to showcase our finest products for our customers in this big show. The current edition of the show coincided with the season of weddings in the region, and with the fall in gold prices.

He added: “We are specialized in manufacturing the latest collection of bridal jewellery sets. During the exhibition, we showcased 18 karat diamond and gemstone studded bridal sets. These traditional collections perfectly suit the taste of women in the GCC countries. In addition, we showcased the latest collection of contemporary jewellery designs”.

Rohit Dhamani, CEO of Dhamani Jewels, said: “We have over 20 outlets in the region. Since our inception 20 years ago, we have collaborated with the management of Expo Centre Sharjah in 1996, and we have been among the first brands to participate in this show, which is the focal point of the region’s jewellery industry. The show provides us with an excellent platform to network with our clients, to identify their requirements, preferences and trends and to display our latest innovative collections”.

He added: “We have unique and diverse collection of classic diamonds and the elegantly designed solitaire and jewelry that cater to the tastes of modern Arab women and are perfect for wedding ceremonies. We have collections of colored gemstone such as ruby stone, safari and emerald, which we cut and manufacture in our manufacturing bases across the world, such as Italy, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Dubai.

Thomson Chan, Exhibitions Officer, Hong Kong Jewellery Manufacturers Association said: “We have established a long-standing relationship with Expo Centre Sharjah for the last two decades. We have been among the first participants in the show, which has garnered the attention of jewellry dealers and manufacturers. We are pleased to be part of this success story and to represent Hong Kong which is considered as one of the world’s premier jewellery trading hub. Through our regular presence in this event, we exhibit the latest collections of diamond jewellery that suit different budgets and needs of both consumers and wholesalers, alike”.

Keven Kee, from Advance Diamond trading, Singapore, Organisers of The Singapore pavilion at the show said: “Our pavilion at the 41st edition of the MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show includes twleve exhibitors. We display a variety of unique and vintage designs to visitors. We see the promising opportunities in the UAE market, for both the local retailers and visiting end-users”. He thanked the management Expo Centre Sharjah for the excellent organization, facilities and services provided to  exhibitors.

Sauro Servadei, from Artex, organizer of the Italian pavilion in the show, pointed out the importance of the increasing Italian participation. He said: “We represent 30 Italian companies from North, Central and South Italy. We showcased modern designs and styles. This year, an Italian firm introduced exciting collection of watches. Everyone knows the superiority of Italian jewellry. The UAE market is one of the most important markets for our Italian companies, and Expo Centre Sharjah, particularly through its MidEast Watch & Jewellery Show, is one of the most important bases for exposure and expansion”.

He added: “Our debut 13 years ago was through a single company, and today we have 30 companies under the umbrella of our pavilion, showcasing their finest collections of jewellery and timepieces. We hope the volume of participation will grow every year. We offer a variety of collection to suit all tastes and preferences of both customers and dealers, alike”.

The show welcomed daily raffle draws on Diamond rings during its 5 days, and a set of Diamond jewellery on its last day.

Expo Centre Sharjah hosts and organizes various exhibitions and conferences throughout the year, such as; Steel Fab, The Sharjah International Book Fair, International Education Show, National Career Exhibition, Plastivision Arabia, Printpack and Arabia Mold.
