Dubai, UAE: Dubai Land Department (DLD) expressed its support for the directives of HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Judicial Council, to stop the implementation of rental evictions of houses and commercial establishments for which a decision was issued to close them in whole or in part due to non-payment of rent during March and April 2020.

DLD, through its Rental Disputes Center (RDC), affirmed its commitment to the directives that take into account the social distancing regulations in light of the current global crisis, mitigating its negative repercussions on society and protecting its members at all health, economic, and social levels.

HE Sultan Butti bin Mejren, Director General of DLD, commented: “These directives highlight the leadership's keenness to help and support the society in overcoming the current crisis, which requires everyone's support. On this occasion, we can only express our heartfelt gratitude to real estate owners who voluntarily initiated to support the preventive and precautionary measures announced by the wise government in the UAE to limit the spread of COVID - 19 and support the dedicated efforts of medical employees, who are the first line of defence, including doctors, nurses, technicians, and assistants, by presenting their buildings to be used for quarantining purposes should the need arises.”

HE Judge Abdulqader Mousa, Chairman of RDC, said: “In such times, everyone is expected to demonstrate the values of true citizenship and provide support to the wise directives, including incentive initiatives, to keep the national economy consistent and maintain its valuable gains that had increased over the past decades. At RDC, we will closely follow the developments, and implement the directives of our wise leadership to contribute to establishing social security and family stability during these critical circumstances.”

In light of this critical global circumstance, DLD calls upon buildings and real estate owners to show their social responsibility and take into account tenants’ conditions as well as supporting them by taking steps that demonstrate their solidarity and synergy with the society. DLD also stresses the importance of standing together to face this global threat, in line with the noble humane values established by the UAE that have made it one of the most prominent countries in the world in the field of humanitarian and charitable work.

DLD expressed its best wishes to the health and safety of everyone and hopes that owners would launch noble initiatives, especially with the approach of the Holy Month of Ramadan. The department wishes the UAE, Islamic nations, and humanity safety in overcoming this epidemic.
