BEIRUT: The number of coronavirus cases in Lebanon rose sharply once again Tuesday, with 1,105 additional people testing positive for the disease and ten more dying from related complications. Only 15 of the new cases were detected from people traveling into Lebanon from abroad.

The positivity rate among the 11,948 tests carried out on the local population over the past 24 hours was 9.1 percent, and an increasing number of healthcare workers are testing positive for COVID-19 each day.

A total of 1,001 healthcare workers have caught the disease in Lebanon since February, with 21 of those being detected Tuesday.

Since February, 38,363 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the crisis-hit country, and 361 of them have lost their lives from the disease.
