Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian government currently considers raising national minimum wages to range from EGP 1,400 to EGP 1,600, instead of EGP 1,200, sources familiar with the matter said told Alborsa News.

The possible raise has not been set yet, but it is expected to range from 17% to 33%, the sources highlighted.

Egypt also mulls over doubling the annual bonus to 15%, instead of 7.5%, according to the sources.

The committee assigned to improve the wages system shall review the proposals within a month.

Last week, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi had discussed the potential increases in a meeting with the Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and a number of ministries.
