MANAMA: MP Ibrahim Al Nafea has called for the new stimulus package to cover national newspapers, which is one of the sectors hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

He said print media across the world is facing major challenges. “Special attention must be paid to national newspapers’ needs and priorities to help them survive and continue to assume their national duty.”

National newspapers were suffering before the pandemic, but the outbreak has put extra burden as the print media has witnessed an unprecedented drop in advertising, which is a newspaper’s main source of income, he pointed out.
