KUWAIT CITY: The concerned governmental authorities, in cooperation with foreign and internal scholarship authorities, are preparing a mechanism for the recruitment of 160,000 Kuwaitis in the private sector to replace expatriates, reports Al- Anba daily quoting sources who revealed the mechanism will be applied within five years.

Sources said this is a comprehensive and strategic mechanism for the replacement of expatriates with Kuwaitis in the technical and scientific fields. Sources added the objective is to encourage Kuwaitis to pursue technical specializations that the local labor market needs, instead of literary and administrative studies.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Information has refused to cancel its plot allocation on Failaka Island despite the Cabinet’s resolution on the cancellation of such allocations if the plot is idle, reports Al-Qabas daily. In a letter forwarded to Kuwait Municipality, Undersecretary Muneera Al-Huwaidi explained the ministry needs the plot for its future projects to support radio and television broadcasting along the coastline and on the island
