KUWAIT CITY - Minister of Oil and Acting Minister of Electricity and Water Dr. Khaled Al-Fadhel revealed that the percentage of Kuwaitis working in the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (the administrative building) on permanent contracts has exceeded 99 percent, reports Al-Anba daily.

In his response to a parliamentary question submitted by MP Dr. Muhammad Hadi Al-Huwaila, he explained that there are 681 Kuwaiti employees versus one GCC employee. There are 26 employees on special contracts that require expertise in their entirety as they are not available in the local market.

There are 148 non-Kuwaiti employees on service contracts(work contracts with a lump sum salary) for marginal jobs and support jobs that are difficult to fill with national workers.

Dr. Al-Fadhel affirmed that the number of expatriate workers who have been laid off since the issuance of Civil Service Commission’s decision No. 11/2017 has reached about 38, including six employees on special contracts and 32 on service contracts.

He said the number of national workers appointed in the institution since the issuance of the decision has reached 72.
