Cairo – Major international mining companies have expressed their interest in Egypt’s upcoming gold exploration tender during their meeting with the Egyptian minister of petroleum Tarek El-Molla on Thursday, according to a statement.

Senior officials at the world’s largest gold reserve holder Newmont Corporation, Canada-based Franco-Nevada Corporation, and merchant bank Forbes & Manhattan, as well as Barrick Gold expressed their interest in the anticipated tender slated to be launched mid-March.

The meetings were held on the sidelines of the World’s Premier Mineral Exploration and Mining Convention (PDAC 2020) in Canada.

Moreover, the Canadian minister of international trade Mary Ng remarked that several mining companies have become attracted to Egypt’s mining sector.
