Internship programme launched in May 2021 in the hospitality division to expand across the different units of the Group

Dubai – Al Habtoor Group (AHG) celebrates today the graduation of the first batch of Emirati nationals from its hospitality internship programme launched in May of this year to introduce the hospitality sector to Emirati youth and prepare them for the workplace. Al Habtoor Group’s Founding Chairman Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor hosted the event. He was joined by Mohammed Al Habtoor, Vice-Chairman and CEO, and other members of the senior management.

The first batch of 30 Emirati interns, which joined the programme in May 2021, were awarded completion certificates at a ceremony at the Al Habtoor Group headquarters on Al Wasl Road. The 13 best signed contracts after the ceremony joining the workforce of the Group.

Since launching this initiative through his Twitter account before the summer, Chairman Al Habtoor kept a close eye on the interns’ introductory journey and progress.

He commented, “We committed at the Group to educating our sons and daughters and preparing them to become pioneers in tourism, a vital sector in our economy.

“We have invested time, effort and money in training them in all areas of the hotel sector and exposing them to the full experience from a hotelier’s point of view. I am happy to see that almost half of the interns have decided to take on this venture and remain within the hospitality sector.”

He concluded: “We are already in the process of welcoming the second batch of interns in the hospitality division and have launched the same initiative across all our units in the various sectors. These are our children, and I am incredibly pleased to welcome them into our family.

Vice-Chairman and CEO Mohammed Al Habtoor encouraged the new joiners, stating that he was proud of the enthusiasm of the Emirati interns to learn and assist in the operation. “We received promising updates about their commitment to their roles and their pride in delivering Emirati hospitality.”

This programme comes as part of Al Habtoor Group’s continued commitment to increasing Emiratis in its workforce.
